Brief Story of Origin of the Family tree

Great grand mother known as 'Kesri Fotedar' was reported to have been blessed with a treasure of pearls, rubies etc. in her basement. The surname 'Fotedar' has clung to the family since then. Persian however seems to have been well spoken and written by Kashmiri Pandits. In Persian 'foth' means pearls and 'dar' means holder or possessor. Shrimati Kesriji was a Philanthropic lady and she is believed to have spent the treasure by helping the poor, needy and sick people. It is stated that Maharaja Ranbir Singh the then ruler of Kashmir went to her house and claimed a portion of the treasure.
