Dr. Hira Fotedar is
presently Vice President, Quality for Eaton Corporation in Cleveland, Ohio.
He joined Eaton in 1977
as manager - product engineering at the Engine Components Division facility in
Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil. He held the positions of executive engineer -
Latin America and chief process engineer for the Engine Components Division in
Battle Creek, Michigan, before being named manager-product quality assurance
in 1982 and Manager Productivity/Quality in 1992. He held the position of
Director, Corporate Quality from 1993 to 2001.
Dr. Fotedar was Tufts
University's LATF Fellow at the Instituto de Energia Atomica in Sao Paulo,
Brazil where he set up programs and conducted research in Nuclear Materials.
He held positions of Associate Professor & Manager Quality Assurance
Nuclear Reactors from 1974-77. He was a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the
Imperial College of Science & Technology, University of London, England
from 1971-73 and a visiting Research Assistant Professor at the University of
Washington in Seattle from 1973-74.
Dr. Fotedar is a Fellow
of the American Society for Quality as well as ASQ Certified Quality Engineer.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in metallurgical engineering from
Banaras Hindu University in Banaras, India, and Master of Science and Ph.D.
degrees in the same field from the University of Washington in Seattle. He has
lectured and published technical papers in Materials Engineering, Continuous
Improvement, Total Quality & Productivity Management.
He serves on the Board
of Directors of WINOC (Work in Northeast Ohio Council) and is a member of the
Board of Trustees of the Michigan Quality Council. He is co-chair of the
Performance Improvement Council of The Conference Board, and member of
Manufacturers Alliance for Productivity and Innovation, as well as Chair of
the Board of Trustees of the Ohio Award for Excellence.
Dr. Fotedar has served
as an Examiner and a Senior Examiner for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality
Award (1995 - 1998).
